Former Communications Director of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Yaw Adomako Baafi, has rubbished rumours of his death, saying although he was sick, he's strong now as his health has been restored.
Dr. Okyere Ankrah, a lecturer, had recently appealed to the leadership of the NPP to reach out to Yaw Adomako Baafi, who is currently critically ill.
Speaking on Okay FM, he disclosed that the former party stalwart has been rejected by the party to which he has served loyally throughout his career.
Making a passionate appeal, Dr. Okyere Ankrah urged the party to urgently support Adomako Baafi in seeking medical care before his situation worsens.
"Let someone inform the national chairman or the entire national council that they should visit and help Yaw Adomako Baafi because he is critically ill. He has to be sent to a medical facility to receive treatment. I'm saying this with passion because I used to be his roommate in the same room back in the day, and the only party he has served and known is NPP and nothing else. He is in bad shape."
He further revealed how Adomako Baafi sacrificed for the party's interests even while dealing with a leg injury.
"I'm stressed on this because of his dedication. Sometime back he had an injury on his leg, but that didn't deter him from moving to radio stations with that same leg to speak for NPP. He really needs help befall anybody. Let's help people while they are, he added.
But in a video shared on social media, Yaw Adomako Baafi who's popularly known as Lawyer speaks in contrast to what the lecturer had claimed, adding that he was given financial support from senior party members.
"Yes, it is true. Recently I was sick and admitted to Korle Bu; subsequently, I was admitted at the University of Ghana Medical Centre. I was not abandoned; I was helped. With God's intervention, financially and in everything, I was never in lack. With the help of Dr. Bawumia, the President, and especially my brother Joseph Asibu, they all helped. And I am also not financially poor; I am not rich, but the little I do have.
"I am strong now; I'm doing my second masters, and I have been going for lecturers. Recently, I wrote my exams, and then I wake up and I am told that I am dead, the astute communicator said.
He added: "Please, a dead person cannot speak; that is why I am compelled to come out with this video so whoever hears this... the intent of my detractors has been nibbed in the bud. I am very strong, and I will live to be a testimony of God's glory. I am strong, I thank each and everyone, and I still need your prayers.
"Yesterday I was with my in-coming president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, at Ayawaso. Throughout the campaign I was with my brother Anthony Karbo, so no wonder around 4 to 5 am, Karbo got up, Kofi Tonto got up, Asante Krobea and Dr. Bawumia himself chattered me. How come somebody who was with them yesterday, this morning I should be pronounced dead? I am not dead. So I am grateful to all Ghanaians."
