The South African National Democratic Congress (NDC) Council of Elders Chairman, Benjamin Kofi Quashie has opined that the appointment of Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as former President Mahama's running mate intimidates the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He noted that Prof. Opoku-Agyemang is someone who is without blemish and a good compliment to former President John Dramani Mahama.
Speaking to Nana Otu Darko on Accra FM's "The Citizen Show", on Saturday, 27th April 2024, the SA NDC Council of Elders Chair recounted that the following trajectory of the woman - the first female Vice Chancellor of University of Cape Coast, coupled with the awards she received for exploits in academia and also her role at the Ministry of Education - makes her a formidable personality for running mate.
"Prof is a good person and would bring in a lot of development to the country as vice president who comes in with a lot of competence", emphasising that "This is the reason why she intimidates the NPP. When somebody intimidates them, they would run round and dig the person and raise all manner of accusations against the person", stated Mr. Quashie.
Mr. Quashie argued that from the inception of her nomination and the subsequent outdooring to the general Ghanaian electorates, "nobody in the NPP can pinpoint to one thing to conclude that there is a blemish on the woman", underscoring, "they have nothing to say about her".
Touching on her outdooring speech, Mr. Kofi Quashie shared that "never in the history of the 4th republic has anyone delivered a speech with such a fearless and passionate appeal to the conscience of Ghanaians" adding, this makes him feel proud that her daughter has someone to look up to and say, "it's possible and can be done. Prof brings a lot to the people", hinted the NDC SA Council Chair.
Again, it is the contention of Mr. Quashie that, what Prof brings is not only to the NDC but, to the entire Ghanaian population "with a dynamic shift from the current occupant of the Vice President's office. The current Vice President is a flip-flopper. The current Vice President is not someone who can help us", emphasised Mr. Quashie.
He made a prognosis that Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, having the mettle of the first female VC of UCC, would surely become the first female Vice President of our motherland and use her expertise to help build our country.
