NPP issues disclaimer over illegal registration of party members

The main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued a disclaimer about an ongoing illegal registration of party members.

A statement issued by the party’s National Treasurer Mr. Abankwaah Yeboah on Thursday said: “It has come to the attention of the National Treasurer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that some unscrupulous people have been going round to unsuspecting members of the public and Party, purporting to be registering them as party members.” Below is the rest of the statement:

They collect monies and claim to set up an Omanye e-account (electronic account) and provide code and pin numbers for these unsuspecting NPP members through their mobile phones. They then promise to send the party cards at a later date.

The National Treasurer wishes to inform all members, supporters and sympathizers of the party that, the party has not authorized any persons or body to collect monies or register members.

All such authorisation if made, shall be by the appropriate body of the party.

Any person who has gone through such illegal process, should report to the National Headquarters or call Telephone number: 020-2501566/020-8117161.

Accordingly, the National Treasurer would like to thank all members who have so far been contributing and paying dues through short code: 12012.

We wish to state that it is important that contributions so made, are duly received by the party and put to good use.

…signed… Mr. Abankwaah Yeboah

(National Treasurer)
