The controversial Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Daniel Bugri Naabu failed to retain his position, not even after drawing sympathy votes from his storming the election grounds in a wheelchair as well as towing his mangled accident car to the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale where the delegates conference was held.
He pulled a shocking 116 votes whilst his closest contender Mohammed A. Bantima Samba, who showed him the exit, gathered maximum 312 of the 566 total votes cast.
Daniel Bugri Naabu after surviving a near-fatal accident on Thursday managed to get his V8 Prado Land Cruiser to the venue ahead of the election held on Saturday April 28,2018, an act that got tongues wagging.
Another casualty is the Regional Secretary Sule Salifu, who is the Northern Regional Coordinator of the Youth Employment Agency. He lost to a legal practitioner Sule Sambian.
Sule Salifu pulled 186 votes whilst Sule Sambian went away as the winner with 228 votes.
Also, the 2nd Vice Hajia Amama, who is Ghana’s Ambassador to Dubai, was unseated by the Northern Regional Coordinator of the School Feeding Programme Mrs Felicia Tetteh with 20 and 336 votes respectively.
