NPP must apologise to northerners – Sam Pee Yalley

Ghana’s Ambassador to India, Sam Pee Yalley, has called on the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to render an unqualified apology to residents of Tamale.

Mr. Pee Yalley reproved the NPP for vilifying the people of Tamale prior to their congress in the Northern regional capital. He sought to remind NPP members of some previous comments they made against Northerners during the 2012 general elections.

According to him, prior to the 2012 elections, some NPP gurus reportedly said but for the advent of free education, several leaders in the country who are northerners could not have attained the positions they hold in their respective offices.

The NPP also labeled President John Mahama as an "embarrassment" to northerners for the reason being that his administration has woefully failed Ghanaians.

Contributing to a panel discussion programme on UTV's Adekye Nsroma," Sam Pee Yalley, who is also a Public Interest Lawyer, was of the view that the NPP needs to apologize for all the distasteful remarks they made about northerners in order for reconciliation to take place.

To him, "it is better late than never," adding, “if they render a public apology, then it will reconcile with their new stance.”
