NPP must find antidote to NDC dominance in Volta Region- Akufo-Addo

Denu (V/R), July 17, GNA - Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, a presidential aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has urged his party to devise strategies to break the dominance of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Volta Region.

He said the supremacy of the NDC in area is a bother that should be tackled.

Nana Akufo-Addo was addressing constituency executives of the NPP at Denu, Anlo-Afiadenyigba and Sogakope as part of his campaign tour of the region.

He described NPP's standing in the region as too weak and fragile.

Nana Akufo-Addo called for the strengthening of the party's grassroot structures in the region, saying the increase of constituency delegates forms a good beginning.

"The three to five per cent election results for the NPP and 97 per cent for the NDC in elections in the region is discouraging and we have to break that," Nana Akufo-Addo stressed.

He said there is a need to increase the party's fortunes in the region progressively by about 25 per cent or more from the 2012 elections.

Nana Akufo-Addo said the Mills administration lacks the ability to initiate any programme to better the lot of Ghanaians who are now yearning for a return of the NPP to power.

He therefore asked the NPP executives to elect him as their flagbearer because he is the most experienced and capable among the four other aspirants.

Mr Yaw Osafo-Marfo, Minister in the previous NPP administration said the propaganda that Nana Akufo-Addo is too old is without merit.
