NPP needs committed executives ...

..to win 2008 elections
Cape Coast Oct.15, GNA- Mr Peter Mac Manu, the Western Regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who is aspiring to become the national chairman of the party, on Friday said the party would need a "new vision, selfless, competent and loyal leaders" to propel it to victory in the 2008 election, which would be a new terrain.

He observed that although the current executives of the party did their best to take the party through a "one touch victory" in the last elections, the terrain would be different in 2008, and hence there was the need for "new blood" like him to make the party win.

Mr Manu was interacting with journalists in Cape Coast as part of his campaign tour of some constituencies in the region to introduce himself to the constituency members.

According to him with the absence of President Kufuor in the 2008 elections, the party would need people with acquired expertise and experience, and that he had that capability since he had worked with eminent members like Mr J.D Da Rocha, Peter Ala Adjetey and Samuel Odoi-Sykes, all former NPP chairmen.

Mr Manu said what Ghanaians needed to enhance the nation's democracy was competence, ability and loyalties in politics and not politics of tribalism, adding that the nation 's democracy could only grow if people moved away from tribal politics.

On the party's administration, he said what was currently needed were funds to run the party, and pledged that when voted as the national chairman he would use his rich experience to raise the needed funds to enhance the party's activities.

Mr Manu said he would also encourage team work, collation building and deal more with the media and the public and put in place an "intelligence and research department" to gather data as well as strengthen the propaganda machinery of the party from the polling station to the national level.

Touching on youth unemployment, he said he would do everything in his capacity to create jobs stressing that " if any political party wants to stay in power it should not overlook the youth in its development plans. He commended all the constituency members for their support and urged them to vote for him during the delegates conference in November to enable him share his expertise with them.
