The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has declared that President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo would be the party’s flagbearer and his Vice, Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia would be running mate for election 2020.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' program, National Youth Organizer of the party, Henry Nana Boakye explained that though the party’s constitution allows for others to contest for the flagbearer position of the party, it is an undeniable fact that the President and his Vice needs not to be contested to enable them continue the good works they are doing for the people of Ghana.

He maintained that the party especially the youth wing declared their unflinching support for the President and his Vice to lead the party into the 2020 elections.

"The party will be going for congress to endorse them as our candidates for election 2020. For us, we have a flagbearer and a running mate. We equally have a message for the people of Ghana which they are delivering," he maintained.

He, however, has challenged the opposition National Democratic Congress to outdoor its running mate and their party policies for election 2020.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP), has inaugurated a National Planning Committee and subcommittees for the party's 2019 National Annual Delegates' Conference which is scheduled to be held on December 21, 2019, at the Accra International Trade Fair.

The main committee, which is being chaired by the party's National First Vice-Chairperson, Madam Rita Talata Asobayire, is charged with the responsibility of coordinating the activities of all the subcommittees to ensure the smooth organization of the party's penultimate National Annual Delegates' Conference before the 2020 General Elections.

While inaugurating the committees, the General Secretary of the party, John Boadu, tasked the members to rise to the occasion and vindicate the confidence that the party's National Steering Committee had reposed in them.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson, Madam Rita Talata, who spoke on behalf of the committees assured the party leadership and its rank and file of their resolve to work so hard to make sure the 2019 National Conference becomes one that is like none other seen yet in the party's history.
