NPP top-brass in Volta commiserate with VRCC on Kamel’s death

Leaders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Volta Region on Tuesday visited the offices of Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC to commiserate with staff on the death of Mr Henry Ford Kamel, Regional Minister.

Before signing the book of condolence, the team led by Kenwuud Nuworsu, NPP Regional Chairman, engaged a VRCC side led by Henry Ametefe, Deputy Volta Regional Minister, in a discussion on issues concerning the development of the region.

Mr Ametefe, clad in black, said he was delighted at the amity characterizing the meeting, saying there should be forums for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and NPP to meet and discuss issues.

“I am so glad at the ‘esprit de corps’ being reflecting here, the friendly demeanor of you all, it goes to deepen democracy,” he stated.

He announced that a technical team had been set up and would be at Guaman, Mr Kamel’s home town on Wednesday to begin work on the final rites of the late Mr Kamel.

Mr Nuworsu said the NPP had been late in coming but it was better late than never to console you and indeed the whole of the Volta Region on the death of “such a public spirited person.”

He wrote in the book of condolence, “We regret the sudden and untimely death of the Regional Minister. He was a good nurtured fellow, driven more by public interest and the wellbeing of the people. He was a gentle man and related well with all manner of persons. May his soul find eternal rest in the bosom of the Lord.”

Other Members of the NPP delegation were Mr Kofi Boateng, NPP Regional Secretary, Mr Ernest Gaewu, Lawyer and NPP candidate for Ho-West in the 2012 elections and Mr Roland Fiakpui, an Assembly Member for Ho Municipal Area and NPP activist.

Accompanying Mr Ametefe were Mr Kwesi Mintah-Benyin, a Deputy Director at the VRCC and Mr Peter Nortsu-Kotoe, Member of Parliament for Akatsi-North.

Mr Kamel who was also MP for Buem Constituency, died suddenly on Christmas Day 2012.

He will be buried on February 23.
