NPP vetting committee boosted Afoko’s chances of winning

Though many have chastised the Vetting Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the way and manner a petition against Paul Afoko’s candidature for the party’s Chairmanship position was handled, a leading member of his campaign team believes the actions of the Vetting Committee has rather boosted their chances of winning.

According to Hon. Boniface Abubakar Saddique; “the Vetting Committee must be praised for the manner in which it has discharged its duties, because if they had waited till the very last minute to investigate these allegations, it would have thrown everything out of gear”.

“…but today they have concluded their investigations and we are grateful to them because our supporters will sleep well now”.

The former Minister for Manpower, Works and Housing in the erstwhile Kufour Administration made these comments on NEAT FM after to the NPP Vetting Committee cleared Paul Afoko of all charges that were brought against by one, David Gyasi.

In the petition, David Gyasi accused Paul Afoko of being an ex-convict in the United Kingdom. Nonetheless, a comprehensive report by the UK court has confirmed that Afoko was never arrested or imprisoned as alleged.

Many also criticized the vetting Committee because of what they deemed as, unfair treatment being meted out to Paul Afoko, but Hon. Boniface Abubakar Saddique believes the turn of events indicates that actions of the Vetting Committee was a blessing in disguise.
