Many within the Asawase constituency are convinced the Asawase parliamentary seat will fall to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the next general elections due to personalities set to fight on the ticket of the NPP.
The NPP says it is poised to present a formidable and winnable candidate to take the seat from the ruling NDC, as well as to increase votes of its presidential candidate.
The Asawase parliamentary seat is among the named seats in the Ashanti Region the NPP is working steadily to win from the NDC.
The party worked hard in the 2012 elections winning the Ejura Sekyeredumase parliamentary seat from the NDC and trying to snatch the Ahafo Ano North and New Edubiase seats in the coming elections.
These seats are considered the safest for the NDC and currently, the Asawase seat is occupied by the Majority Chief Whip, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak.
Some residents rawgist.com spoke to say Asawase has suffered under-development due to “one party voting in parliamentary elections”
“The prolonged stay of Hon. Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak is stalling our development”.
The four names that are contesting primaries are Sulemana Mohammed, Halidu Seidu, Mustapha Hameed and Manaaf Ibrahim.
rawgist.com’s Kwabena Danso-Dapaah gathering from Asawase constituency reports the contest is a two horse race between Sulemanan Mohammed; a businessman and Halidu Seidu; a radio broadcaster.
