NPP will not entertain lawlessness, says organizer

Wa, July 1, GNA - Mr. Abraham Bacchanal, the Upper West regional Organizer of the New Patriotic Party, has said the party intended to conduct a campaign devoid of rancour and would therefore not entertain lawlessness from any party member.

He advised party activists to use appropriate procedures to settle their grievances instead of engaging in actions that had the tendency of creating acrimony which could damage the image of the Party.

Mr. Bacchanal, who was interacting with journalists in Wa, said the NPP was different from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) where lawlessness was most often not condemned but justified in the name of party solidarity.

He said last year some NDC party foot soldiers invaded the offices of the Upper West Regional Coordinating Council, took away tender documents and burnt them but none of those involved in that action was punished.

Mr Bacchanal said information gathered recently indicated that but for some proactive security measures taken a similar incident would have occurred in one of the districts in the region.

In addition, he said, a group calling itself 93Will of the Youth" in the Wa Central Constituency of the NDC had allegedly threatened the Wa Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Yakubu Duogu, for allegedly awarding contracts to perceived NPP members.

He appealed to the NDC hierarchy to be mindful of their utterances since majority of the youth of political parties take inspiration from their leaders.
