Reverend Isaac Owusu-Bempah, the founder and leader of Glorious Word Power Ministry International, has warned that the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) will pay dearly for unprovoked attacks on his character by some party members during the December 7 general elections.
A party member, speaking on Wontumi TV, reportedly vilified Rev. Owusu-Bempah, who is a known sympathizer of the NPP and had predicted its victory in both the 2016 and 2020 general elections.
The NPP member accused Rev. Owusu-Bempah of convincing Archbishop Duncan-Williams and Rev. Dr. Steve Wengam to rise against Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng and sabotage the construction of the National Cathedral.
Speaking to his congregation on Sunday, September 22, 2024, Rev. Owusu-Bempah said he initially did not intend to respond to the verbal attack until he watched a video of Apostle Amoako Atta lamenting why NPP supporters were attacking him (Owusu-Bempah).
"They accused me of being the devil. I don’t know what sin I’ve committed against these people. How? It is very sad. I decided not to speak about it, but after seeing how angry Apostle Amoako Atta was and his questioning of the conduct of some NPP supporters, I decided to break my silence. Some individuals have apologized to me, but I expected the same man who made the statements to go on the same TV station and apologize. Up until now, I have not heard anything."
The man of God expressed his hurt over the false accusations and insults directed at him.
"In fact, the man insulted me thoroughly, even saying that it is the devil who speaks to me, not God. And this is coming from a known NPP supporter, speaking on an NPP-affiliated TV station. The saddest part is that everything they said about me was false. The pastor they claimed I met with - I don’t even know him. If he were standing right in front of me, I wouldn’t be able to identify him.
"I'm not part of the pastors on the National Cathedral Board; I don’t even know where the cathedral is being constructed. But still, you sit somewhere and insult me. I’ve never had any discussions with these senior men of God regarding the National Cathedral, yet I’m being vilified."
Rev. Owusu-Bempah then issued a warning that the NPP would face dire consequences for what they've done to him in the upcoming elections.
"Apostle Amoako Atta warned that this issue will work against the NPP, and they should be careful. What they’ve done to me will really work against them. We’re all in Ghana, and we shall see. You offended me, and I was hurt by it. You apologized, and now you've turned around and started again with the lies.
"We are all here in Ghana. I am not God, but I am a prophet of God. Both heaven and earth bear witness that I am indeed a prophet of God. We have about 76 days to the elections, and we shall see! Why are members of the NPP insulting and falsely accusing me of successfully fighting to block the National Cathedral project from proceeding," Rev. Owusu-Bempah asked.
