NPP will retain power in 2008

Coaltar (E/R), Jan. 16, GNA - Mr. Emmanuel Kofi Dartey, New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman for Ayesuano Constituency has said due to good governance of the NPP government and its numerous achievements, the party would be voted to power in 2008.

"NPP is the only Government that allowed freedom of expression and this shows real democracy."

Mr. Dartey made this observation at Krabokese near Coaltar in the Eastern Region on Monday when he addressed over 200 polling executives after a reception organized for them.

He said because of the introduction of the capitation grant the poor have been able to send their children to school, while the National Health Insurance Scheme has helped the people to attend hospitals and clinic without paying heavy bills.

Mr Dartey said government is extending electricity, constructing roads and providing school infrastructure in the rural areas.

The Chairman said the government would soon re-award the 28-kilometre road from Nsawam-Adoagyiri through Coaltar to Owuram to enable farmers to transport cocoa and foodstuffs to the marketing centers.

Nana Awuah Koranteng, chief of Krabokese, who chaired the function commended Mr. Dartey for his frequent visits to the area to acquaint himself with the problems facing the people.

Nana Koranteng appealed to the government to put up an additional classroom block for the people because the only school in the area could not accommodate the school-going children. 16 Jan. 07
