The Ga Dangbe Council of Wulomei, the allodia custodians of the Ga State, has appealed to the Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to as matter of urgency call for a truce to the internal wrangling.

“We are appealing to the elders of the party to ensure that this internal infighting, antagonism, personality attacks, vandalisation of properties, and loss of life does not degenerate or spill over onto the national political platform next year.

“It is our hope that, Elections 2016 will be free and fair; we need to uphold the peace which was bequeathed to us by our forefathers who struggled and shed their blood for this country,” Numo Blafo, President of the Ga Dangbe Council of Wulomei stated in Accra.

The Ga Dangbe Wulomei also condemned recent attack on a Ga Dangbe State elder; Mr Joshua Attoh Quarshie by NPP mob holding cutlasses, broken bottles and other dangerous weapons at a press conference organised to call for unity within the party.

The NPP mob allegedly led by Mr Kofi Asante the Constituency Organiser for the Ablekuma South Constituency, stormed the venue with assorted weapons, pulled down the canopies and broke all the plastic chairs that had been arranged at the venue.

Mr Asante, thereafter, ordered all at the venue to leave the place else risked the consequences that might be unpleasant.

The irate party supporters warned that any journalists that attempted to take videos or photographs would have him or herself to blame.

Mr Asante claimed that: “You cannot just enter someone’s house and start doing things without the person’s approval”.

Numo Blafo noted that as traditional leaders with values that advocates respect for the elderly in society, we were shocked to hear that some of the NPP youth had attacked one of our revered elders, who incidentally is a founding member of the NPP.

“Since the attack on our elder, the Ga Dangbe Council of Wulomei have not heard any condemnation from the NPP...this is worrying...we are deeply worried with the turn of events on the political landscape,” he noted.

The Ga Dangbe Wulomei therefore appealed to all political parties operating in the Ga Dangbe state to respect “our elders and tradition and conduct political activities with respect and decorum”.
