A former General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Nana Yaa Jantuah, has disclosed that some individuals, including Nkrumahists, are pressuring her to break away from the Convention People's Party (CPP) and form a new political party.

She told adomonline.com in an interview on Thursday, August 15, 2024, that she remains steadfast in her decision not to form a new party as it would cause divisions within the CPP.

“People are pressuring me to form a new party, and even some Nkrumahists are urging me to do so. I have informed them that I won’t because it would create divisions within the CPP,” she noted.

She also expressed concern about the trend of people distancing themselves from Nkrumah’s legacy.

“It’s disheartening that people are disassociating themselves from the Nkrumah legacy. We all need to come together and strengthen the CPP. I wonder why there are always disputes in the party,” she stated.

Nana Yaa Jantuah mentioned the case of GUM, a member who opted to form his own party, leading to what she describes as “the destruction of the CPP.”

She emphasized that Dr. Kwame Nkrumah's achievements are evident for everyone to see in Ghana.
