Press release
At the end of the National Executive Committee Meeting of the People’s National Convention held on Friday February 5, 2010 at the Party Headquarters, Abavana Junction, Accra, the following decisions were taken:
1. Unity of Nkrumahists
NEC, re-committed to the Unity of groups/parties of the Nkrumah fraternity. The party observes that any such unity/merger must be characterised by a sense of sincerety, honesty and utmost faith. The party believes that all adherents of the Nkrumah-Egala-Limann Tradition must eschew selfishness and egoistic tendencies that has frastructured the front overtime. The Party therefore condemns attempts by some unscrupulous, dubious and criminal individuals parading around the country and holding consultaions with PARTY Regional Executives on this matter. The NEC admonishes all such persons to desist from holding these illegitimate meetings with any organ of the party as it has the tendency of meeting popular resentment from the PARTY. In the interim, the PNC is concerned about strentherning our party from the grassroots so as to remain relevant for any future decisions.
2. Party Re-organisation
NEC has re-commissioned the national leadership to hold regular leadership caucus meetings to address national issues. NEC lauded the current National Executives for trying to do their best under difficult circumstances. The meeting noted that the performance of party in election 2008 was considerably affected by the contraints of finance, logistics and the long party letigation in the law courts for almost two years into the elections.
NEC has also asked all Regions to intensify the organisation of regional executive meetings with at least five representatives from each counstituency at such meetings. The media could be invited to cover the outcome of all such meetings so as to make decisions at all levels radiate to the Nation.
As part of mesures to re-organise the party NEC has set-up a seven member committee to work on modalities for constituency, regional and national Congresses:
The mandate of the committee includes:
1. Setting dates for polling station, constituency, regional and national conferences
2. Ascertaining how much resources is required for all of these stages of organisations and how to mobilise logitics for the congresses
