No NDC member has defected - Yagaba Kubori NDC clears air

The communications Bureau of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Yagaba- Kubori constituency, says reports suggesting members of the party have defected to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) are untrue, total falsehood and as such the public should disregard the publications.

The party also refutes reports that some executive officers of the party in some communities within the constituency have resigned, saying such defections are “non-existent and “lies” meant to deceive the public.

In a statement signed by the Yagaba-Kubori Constituency communication officer, Amadu Tia, to clear the air on earlier reports that some ward and constituency executive officers of the party had announced their defection from the NDC, the party says checks have been made and there is no record of any such development in the constituency as is being purported by the NPP to destroy the NDC.

The party makes it clear in their statement that first time voters who registered during the recent limited voter registration exercise and are not deemed members of the NDC, defected from the party.

The statement further accuses, Alhassan Memuna, the North East Regional Deputy Women Organizer of the NPP of parading members of her family from Zanwara, as the defectors from the NDC to win the praises of her bosses.

The party said in the statement: “It has come to the notice of the Communication Bureau of the Yagaba-Kubori constituency of the great NDC streaming in some main stream and social media outlets with the caption “mass defection hit NDC in Yagaba-Kubori constituency. In their statement to the media and the delegates, their communicators indicated that thousands of NDC members including alleged branch and ward executives resigned and defected to the NPP".

"Our checks on the alleged defections from such communities confirmed the non-existence of such as portrayed by the NPP. It is worth noting that, first time voters who registered during the limited registration exercise are not and cannot be deemed to be members of the NDC who defected and should be disregarded as such. It is also shameful to note that the deputy regional women organizer of the NPP paraded her own family members from Zanwara, where she hails from to inform the whole world that they were members of the NDC who defected just to please her bosses as a sign of hard work. However, movement of party members from one party to another is not a new thing. We have received dozens of NPP members since 2017 but have not made any noise about it. It is only a nonperforming party like the NPP that will shout on top of roofs when they receive a single person from another party. We as a party appreciate the support we enjoy from the communities despite the endless intimidations they suffer in the hands of our opponents”.

The Yagaba-Kubori NDC in the statement is asking the NPP government to focus on delivering the several promises, such as the “One Village, One Dam policy, it said it would bring to the area to better the lives of the people and stop “hallucinating and living in their own world and making mockery of the people with dugouts”.

RE-MASS DEFECTION HIT NDC IN YAGABA-KUBORI CONSTITUENCY.

It has come to the notice of the Communication Bureau of the Yagaba-Kubori constituency of the great NDC streaming in some main stream and social media outlets with the caption “mass defection hit NDC in Yagaba-Kubori constituency”.

This revelation was made known during the acclamation of the parliamentary candidate of the heavily bruised NPP that have been on the radar of defeat for some time now on the 28th of September, 2019.

In their statement to the media and the delegates, their communicators indicated that thousands of NDC members including alleged branch and ward executives resigned and defected to the NPP. They mentioned communities such as Zanwara, Loagri No.1, Kubagna and Kubugu as locations where the defections took place.

Our checks on the alleged defections from such communities confirmed the non-existence of such as portrayed by the NPP.

We as a party appreciate the support we enjoy from the communities despite the endless intimidations they suffer in the hands of our opponents.

The NPP also made mention of the construction of ten dams to enhance dry season farming but failed to name the communities that benefited from the initiative. We as a party and the good people of the constituency believe that our opponents are hallucinating and are living in their own world.

For the avoidance of doubts we can confirm the existence of dugouts in the following communities; Kukua No.1, Jadema, Soo and Kubori out of which two were rejected by the consultant because they were a mockery of dugouts according to the DCE own submission to the Assembly.

It is sad they are making desperate attempts to include the dugout at Prima which was constructed by the current Member of Parliament Hon. Ibrahim Abdul-Rauf Tanko to their deceptive achievement and the Kubugu one which has been in existence since 1996 and was only rehabilitated and considered as one of the one village one dam projects just to siphon funds from the state.

This dugout was constructed by the contractor who worked on the road from Wiasi to Mankarigu. We believe that those who made these statements were either not in existence as at the time the Kubuga dugout was constructed or are deliberately trying to misinform the good people of Ghana by twisting facts to make them appear relevant in the midst of their fast weaning image.

The incoming NDC government will investigate all these claims insha Allah come 2021. Perhaps, we may have to take them on excursion to places where dams exist such as the Tono dam and Via dam both in the upper east region and Buntanga and Libga dams in the northern region to see the difference between a dam and a dugout.

On the issue of connecting over ten communities to the national grid, the statement failed to name just one community that they have been able to extend electricity to.

We are challenging the NPP to name just one community they have been able to extend electricity in the district during their last eight years under H. E Kuffour and the almost three years of the supper clearing agent.

We can say without any hesitation that it was the NDC regime that connected over sixteen communities to the national grid for the first time including their parliamentary candidate hometown, Tantala.

We left power while several other communities had their electricity projects at various stages of completion. This good initiative to connect all the communities to the national grid by the NDC government has since been at a snail pace since the NPP took over.

On social intervention, we are yet to see any concrete thing on the ground as a sign of the so called caring government in power more especially when the vice president is a native of the kingdom. Arabic instructors in our communities have been an age old thing and the NPP cannot take credit for their existence.

People were engaged as Arabic instructors, youth in forestry any many more. These people were sacked when the NPP came to power because of political expediency. As part of the NDC believes in alleviating the sufferings of the people, deliberate steps were taken to undertake certain pressing development projects in the constituency.

Some of these include the construction of CHPS compounds in each electoral area to increase access to affordable health delivery, the construction of roads to link all communities some of which were completed of which the road leading to the hometown of Hon. Mustapha Ussif is a glaring example even though yet to be completed, enabling him to access his village all year round which could not happen in the time past while many more were ongoing.

We are entreating the NPP movement to work on the stalled Yagaba- Mankarigu road, the Namoo-Soo- Wuyima road, the Yizebisi-Mugu-Dabozesi road and the Tantala-Zukpeni-Womtobri road if they really have the people at heart.

Also the only and first senior high school in the area was built by the NDC administration which served as the venue where these false allegations and statements were made. It is shameful they made those statements in a hall of an institution that is a legacy of NDC.

It is regrettable the NPP is talking about social intervention when there is none to show in the constituency.

The district assembly complex was constructed by the NDC where the DCE sits to cook lies to deceive the people. It is unfortunate the NPP are taking the people for granted.

We are entreating the leadership of the NPP in the constituency and the vice president to as a matter of urgency take the necessary steps to see to the completion of all the projects that came to a halt when the NDC left power. The NPP must credit the good people of the constituency with some modicum of respect when spewing out such blatant lies. The electorates are watching. It is not only the people of Yagaba-Kubori who have rejected you and your party but the entire country.

We are aware of the desperate moves NPP are making to market their candidate by distributing District Assembly procured furniture to schools in the name of Hon. Mustapha as the donor. It is said that a drowning person is unable to distinguish between the twig of a shrub and a floating leaf in water. No amount of manipulation and manoeuvring will save you from defeat. The good people of the area know the difference between those who talk with deception and those who deliver concrete and tangible projects.

We shall return soon with more exposures.

Signed, Amadu Tia. (Communication Officer, 0249397352).
