The Northern Regional Chairman of the Opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Daniel Bugre Naabu has alleged that the people of the Northern region rejected President John Dramani Mahama when he visited the region on his final leg of the accounting to the people tour.

He claimed the people ignored him in the numerous communities the president visited adding that but for the large convoy the president brought from Accra he is sure the president would have been alone on the streets of the communities he visited.

Addressing a gathering of women's groups at Bunbong-Nayili in the Yendi Constituency of the Northern region Mr. Bugre Naabu, said it was unusual of the people of the Northern Region not to turn out to welcome the president because the region has often given their votes to the NDC, claiming it is an indication that the president and his NDC had been rejection.

Pictures had emerged on social media platforms portraying president Mahama had a rousing welcome when he visited the region but Mr. Bugre Nabu said he was in Tamale and saw how the president had to use the Agric traffic lights bypass out of embarrassment because no one was there to welcome him. He said further checks in the various communities he visited revealed similar scenes of rejection leaving the president waving at scores of bystanders on the streets.

Mr. Bugre Naabu attributed the low turnout of the people in the region to welcome the president to the poor performance and deception of the John Mahama led NDC administration.

He said the people of the Northern region have come to the realization that the President and the NDC cannot continue to be fooling them with their propaganda.

He said a government that is not sensitive to your plight is not your government saying "you vote for a government to lessen your suffering and not to worsen it".

According to him, the NDC has lost focus and has resorted to deceit and dubious means to win power.
