Odododiodioo NDC executives, members, visit Nii Adamafio

Accra, March 27, GNA - Some executives and members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Odododiodioo constituency have paid a visit to Nii Okaidjah Adamafio, a National Vice Chairman of the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), who is recuperating from illness, at his residence in Accra. Speaking during the visit, Mr. Daniel Nii Okai, NDC Constituency Chairman, said Nii Adamafio, who was a Minister of State in the era of former President Jerry John Rawlings, represented the area in Parliament.

Mr Okai recalled the contribution of the former Minister to the development and growth of the party in the constituency, which earned him the accolade 93Shiatse or Father of the NDC" in the area. The NDC constituency Chairman noted that even though Nii Adamafio and some members of the party defected to join the DFP, he maintained his fatherly image within the NDC in the constituency and continued to advice the rank and file of the party when ever that was needed. Nii Lante Vanderpuiye, a Special Aide to the President and a leading member of the party in the constituency, said Nii Adamafio had contributed immensely to the achievements of the NDC within the Odododiodioo constituency for which he would forever be cherished. Nii Vanderpuiye said the visit was to show the appreciation of the NDC in the area and to wish Nii Adamafio a speedy recovery from his sickness since his advice was needed.

Mr Vanderpuiye recalled that in spite of his defection to the DFP Nii Adamafio was still respected and honoured, adding that he would always be accorded the dignity and a special place in the annals of the party in the area.

Mr. Isaac Adjei, a member of the Promoters' Council of the DFP and the Greater Accra Regional Secretary of the party, said those who defected from the constituency had rejoined the NDC and that they had been cooperating with the NDC since 2008.

He said members of the DFP in the area joined the NDC executives and members on the visit to formally inform him that they had "returned to their roots" and were working with the NDC to ensure that it retained the seat in the 2012 elections.

Cartoons of purified water, energy drinks and fruit juices were presented to Nii Adamafio during the visit.
