Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, the flagbearer of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) is the only one, who could transform the economy of Ghana as compared to the other presidential aspirants, due to his proven success in running dozens of businesses both home and abroad, the National Youth Coordinator of the party, Mr Divine Nkrumah has stated.
“Dr Nduom has done more in the private sector on his own to create jobs and promote made-in-Ghana goods and services in a practical manner better than any of them. If what Ghana needs are solutions to the economic, private sector and energy challenges, he is better qualified by education and experience than what either President Mahama or Nana Akufo-Addo combined can deliver. He has made a personal commitment against corruption by making public his income tax returns and asset declarations. He is committed to using the best talent that Ghana has to ensure rapid development. Ghana would obviously be a better place in terms of offering employment opportunities under the Progressive Peoples Party; under a demonstrable, incorruptible and experienced leader Dr Papa kwesi Nduom,” Mr Nkrumah indicated.
Mr Nkrumah made this statement at the party’s National Youth conference held recently at Peki, in the Volta Region.
The conference, which was under the theme: “Winning election 2016, through youth participation”, was aimed at sensitising and empowering the Youth in PPP to engage in vigorous campaigns for the party to win election 2016.
Dr Nduom, is the President of Groupe Nduom, which has over fifty business subsidiaries. The group has a diverse portfolio of businesses and social welfare enterprises, primarily in Ghana, West Africa and the United States.
These businesses cover finance, media, hospitality, industry and education.
For Mr Nkrumah, this is proof of the wealth of knowledge and experience of Dr Nduom and advocated that the electorate should give the PPP a chance during the November 7 polls.
“Let us place Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, President Mahama and Nana Akufo-Addo on the same continuum. All three aspiring Presidential candidates have been members of Parliament and Ministers of State, but Dr Nduom was the only one, who was unanimously accepted and elected by the people as an Assembly Member, which gives him a better appreciation of the need for grassroots democracy and development,” he noted.
To him, the Mahama administration is the most feckless and irresponsible regime to ever manage the affairs of the country. He attributed the worsening economic condition to government’s mismanagement of the economy and its lack of understanding of the situation.
He maintained that government’s shallow managerial expertise and lack of foresight has plunged the country into an abyss of hopelessness.
Mr Nkrumah explained that under the current government, corruption has become a norm, and made reference to the $100,000 Ford expedition car gift given to the president by a Burkinabe contractor, as a clear case of corruption. He said, President Mahama lacks the political will to fight corruption, a situation, he believes is making corruption fester in the current government.
