National Chairman of the Peoples National Convention (PNC) Bernard Mornah has said the party will be better off without Dr Edward Mahama as its Leader.

According to Mornah, Dr Mahama’s role in the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government is affecting the effective running of the PNC, a situation which is very worrying.

President Akufo Addo in July 2017 appointed the 2016 flagbearer of the People’s National Convention, Dr Edward Mahama, as Ghana’s Ambassador-at-large.

But Mr Mornah has revealed that the party has not been able to hold any strategic meeting since Dr Mahama accepted the President’s appointment.

“The leader of our party is hobnobbing with President Akufo Addo, so we are unable to hold good party meetings let alone strategize on how to defeat the NPP in the next election. More importantly, the PNC cannot present ourself as a formidable opposition because our leader is in government and once our leader is in government it’s a problem.

“I think that there’s hope, Edward Mahama cannot continue to lead us. President Limman who founded the party God called him to eternity, I’m not praying for Dr Edward Mahama to be called this early but I’m sure that even President Mugabe as you know a time has come for him not to continue to be leader of ZANU PF. It is possible that some reasoning will prevail and he’ll say let the party work without me and that point in time, many other persons who feel very aggrieved and undecided will join the party and to make it grow,” Mornah said.
