Binduri (UE), Sept. 18, GNA - The People's National Convention
(PNC), has confirmed Mr Cyprian Anthony, a 44 year-old teacher as its
parliamentary candidate to contest the Binduri Constituency seat in the
Upper East Region. This was contained in a statement signed by the Regional Secretary of the
Party, Mr Henry Fatchu. It said the 44 year old teacher, received the endorsement when the 87
delegates voted for him by popular acclamation. Mr Fatch thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in him and
pledged to work harder to enable the party win the seat for the area. He said the party had a comprehensive policy on rural development, and
would effectively implement them when it was voted into power. He added that the party would introduce what it termed "growth poles"
to decongest urban areas by making life better and more attractive in the rural
areas so as to discourage people from migrating to urban centres. Mr Fatchu said the party would also identify towns along the borders
such as Bawku, Hamile, Paga, Aflao, Namoo, Elebo and Half Assini to
construct suitable warehouses and retail structures to act as market centres
to serve ECOWAS countries. In addition, he said, the PNC would increase employment avenues in the
agriculture sector, especially to the youth in the rural areas by assisting them
with farm inputs, extension services and other resources. The election was conducted by Mr Azu Bosco, the Municipal Director in
charge of Bawku Electoral Commission.
