The People's National Convention (PNC) on has opened an office in Tamale to serve as its Northern Regional Secretariat to help to undertake its administrative activities.

Mr Bernard Mornah, General Secretary of PNC, who opened the office, said it sends a positive signal to all that "the PNC is alive and coming back" to power to serve the best interest of the people.

Mr Mornah said the opening of the regional secretariat is also a message to the Electoral Commission (EC) that the PNC has offices across the country indicating that it is a vibrant party.

The EC, in a recent report, said the PNC do not have the required number of offices across the country as required under the Political Parties Act.

Mr Mornah said the Northern Regional Secretariat would be an active office, and "The base that will be the springboard for re-galvanisation of the party".

He said the party is working to acquire land to build permanent regional offices across the country to undertake its activities as well as attract more youth to make the PNC vibrant.

Mr Mornah also spoke about his personal ambition to become the National Chairman of the PNC during the National Delegates Congress of the Party, which would be held later this year to elect national executives.

Alhaji Zakaria Alhassan, Northern Regional Chairman of PNC, said the opening of the regional secretariat would ensure improvement in the party's activities as well as attract, especially more youth to its fold.
