The People's National Convention (PNC) has once again rescheduled its National Delegates Congress.

The National Delegates Congress has been rescheduled to Saturday, September 7, 2024, marking the second postponement in recent weeks.

The congress is expected to elect the party's national executives and a flagbearer ahead of the December 7 general elections.

Originally slated for Saturday, 24 August 2024, the congress was initially postponed to Saturday, 31 August before the latest decision to move it forward by another week.

A statement issued on Friday, 30 August 2024, by the PNC signed by its Acting General Secretary Prince Agyemang Duah said: “Following a National Executive Committee meeting held today, 30th August 2024, at the Headquarters in Accra, a decision was taken to postpone the National Delegates Congress to September 7th, 2024.”

The statement elaborated on the rationale behind the decision

“It would be recalled that the party had earlier scheduled its National Delegates Congress for the 31st of August, 2024 to reorganise its structures and ready itself for the 7th December, 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections,” it noted.

The PNC is called on “members, supporters, sympathisers, and the general public, especially aspirants, to take note of this new development and comply or act accordingly."

The party completed vetting all aspirants on Friday, 23 August 2024, with one candidate disqualified during the process.
