A government of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) will build recreational facilities on water bodies in Accra to provide employment for the indigenes, the 2016 flagbearer of the party, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, has promised.

“If you go to France, there is a water body there. There is one in London and in Washington. If you go there, you will see the difference between the people who are living well and those of us who are living poorly in Accra – Ghana here. In Paris, the water body is just like we have the Korle here, just like we have the Chemu, just like we have the Odawna. But there, if you go in the afternoon, people are there with boats, living inside the boats, serving foods, serving drinks, providing entertainment and so there are jobs. If you go at night, you would see the same thing.

There is tourism and people go from Ghana, from Nigeria, from America and other places just to enjoy themselves. But come to Accra. Go to Odawna, go to Korle, go to Chemu, so who is going there in the afternoons to enjoy themselves? Who is going to go there in the evenings to enjoy themselves? Who in Accra is speaking for the Accra people so that our water bodies in Accra will be clean, so that you can have entertainment there, so that you can have jobs there?” he asked.

“Who in Accra is speaking for the Accra people so that our water bodies in Accra will be clean? So that you can have entertainment there so that you can have jobs there?”

He continued: “I am telling you…the NDC didn’t do it, the NPP didn’t do it, but the PPP will make it happen. That is why the PPP is promoting respectable people like Evangelist Larbi (the party’s parliamentary nominee.”

The three-time presidential nominee made the comments while addressing a gathering on Wednesday, July 27 at the campaign launch of the PPP parliamentary aspirant for Odododiodio, Evangelist William Larbi popularly known as ‘Stopper’ at Akoto Lante, a suburb of Accra.

According to Dr. Nduom, a PPP administration will ensure that water bodies in the capital were maintained and kept clean for tourism purposes.

Bemoaning what he described as poor management by the current leaders of the nation, he charged the people of Accra to ensure that they vote for competent persons like Evangelist Larbi, who would fight for them to ensure that Accra gets the needed development it deserves.

For his part, the PPP parliamentary aspirant noted the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) had come to stay and redeem the people of Accra from what he described as hardships currently being faced by Ghanaians.

He said only the PPP could deliver Ghanaians from all their worries and take them to the “Promised Land” because the PPP leadership had demonstrated beyond reasonable doubt that it could create all the jobs needed.

“PPP is there for everybody. PPP is going to create jobs for everybody. A new era is coming to the Odododiodio constituency,” he stressed.
