PROTOA congratulates President Mills

Nkoranza (B/A), Feb. 5, GNA - Members of the Nkoranza branch of Progressive Transport Owners Association (PROTOA), have congratulated President John Evans Atta Mills wishing him success in his government. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Nkoranza on behalf of the association, Mr Mahama Fosu-Bediako, Chairman, commended Ghanaians for the peaceful manner they conducted themselves during and after the election. He urged government appointees to selflessly deliver their service to the nation by supporting the new government to successfully implement programmes towards national development. Mr Fosu-Bediako called on members of parliament to place the nation's interest above their personal interests and pursue strategies that would help improve the living standards of the people. e He also appealed to President Mills to reduce the high cost of vehicle spare parts and fuel.

Mr Joseph Nyamaah, the association's Vice Chairman expressed concern about the deplorable state of the Nkoranza-Jema-Nkwanta-Kintampo road and appealed to government to rehabilitate it to facilitate the movement of people and agricultural goods. He advised drivers to be extra careful on the road and to adhere to traffic regulations to reduce accident cases. Mr Nyamaah also urged transport owners to ensure the regular maintenance of their vehicles with road worthy certificates. "Drivers should not forget that over-loading and unnecessary over-taking is dangerous practices that cause accidents, hence they should be extra careful in order to save lives," he added. Mr Nyamaah advised passengers to monitor drivers' behaviours by reporting those who drink to the police or authorities of transport associations for sanctions to be taken against them.
