The Paramount Chief of Tepa, Nana Adusei Atwenewah Ampem I, has convened an emergency meeting with his elders to address the escalating tensions in the community, following the December 7 general election.
The meeting is expected to outline a comprehensive strategy aimed at restoring peace in the Ahafo Ano North Constituency of the Ashanti Region, which has been characterised by violence.
A video shared by Channel One TV on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, on their X page, shows Nana Adusei Atwenewah Ampem I and his elders all dressed in mourning clothes, with some irate community members at the gathering, including one of them lying prostrate in front of the paramount chief.
During the election, one of the focal points of violence was the Tepa Senior High School, where some protesters allegedly set several structures within the school premises ablaze.
Additionally, a local radio station and a nearby warehouse were reportedly ransacked, further escalating tensions in the community.
One of the vehicles belonging to the New Patriotic Party's parliamentary candidate and current Director General of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Nana Agyemang Prempeh, was reportedly also set on fire.
