Prof. Smart Sarpong has condemned the conduct of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) caucus in Parliament which they exhibited on Tuesday, October 22.
The NDC caucus claims to have assumed majority position in the Legislative House following an order by the Speaker.
The Agona West, Amenfi Central, Fomena and Suhum represented by their MPs have been declared vacant by the Speaker, Alban Bagbin.
On Tuesday, the NDC caucus engaged in a marching parade on the floor of Parliament while the New Patriotic Party (NPP) caucus vacated the chamber to maintain peace and order in the House.
Commenting on the issue during Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" show, Prof. Smart Sarpong rebuked the MPs on the NDC bench for rejecting the Supreme Court verdict which has stayed the Speaker's order but rather deciding to stoke a riot in Parliament if the NPP caucus hadn't boycotted the House.
"It appears that Parliament don't want to give the Supreme Court or the Judiciary the needed respect", he said, asking the MPs to respect the courts which have been empowered by the Constitution to adjudicate matters.
Touching on their mandate and duty, Prof. Sarpong admonished the MPs to represent their constituents well stating "you have to think about the people you are representing. Please, Members of Parliament, remember you are representing some people".
