The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) risks suffering massive voter apathy in the Ashanti Region if Bernard Antwi Boasiako otherwise known as Chairman Wontumi and MP for Subin, Eugene Boakye Antwi are not called to order, Evangelist Obeng Mensah Gyataba has warned.
In a recent sermon delivered in Kumasi, the preacher man said both men have turned themselves into “demi-gods” taking unilateral decisions without recourse to the party structures in the region.
Evangelist Obeng Mensah maintained that those who oppose the decisions of the two are often targeted and unduly punished.
“Ashanti Region NPP is seriously suffering at the hands of these men and it is about time the national executive took steps to address the impasse in the party before matters get worse,” he added.
Quoting James Chapter 3: 13 to buttress his points, Evangelist Obeng Mensah, said the two men have arrogated to themselves all wisdom in the world and take decisions without considering the feelings of others.
He said if Chairman Wontumi and Eugene Boakye Antwi were true Christians they would have “proved it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom.”
“They are very selfish and all they are perfect at is to throw their weight around. The NPP does not belong to Wontumi and Eugene, so we wouldn’t sit aloof for them to destroy the party. If NPP goes down, Ghana will go down,” the preacher man intimated.
Evangelist Obeng Mensah said like Nehemiah who demonstrated care for those in need and went on to borrow for the poor in Jerusalem, he would not relent on his effort to seek justice for party members who have become victims of the “tyrannical behaviors” of the two.
“We all know how Nehemiah cared for his people. He chose to go and borrow money for the poor even thought he was not obliged to do so. He just cared for the people.
“As I speak today, I am not a member of the NPP, but I care for Ghana and care for my people.
“I will not keep quiet for these two to destroy the party. It is by the grace of God that Ghanaians voted for the NPP, not the doing of anyone. So those who think they are the alpha and omega must be called to order immediately”.
It would be recalled that last week it took the timely intervention of the police to prevent some aggrieved party members from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Subin constituency in Kumasi from locking up the party office at Asafo on Tuesday.
The aggrieved party members accused the sitting Member of Parliament, Mr Eugene Boakye Antwi and the constituency executives of “nepotism and favouritism.”
The aggrieved members accused the MP of conniving with the party executives, to change the Subin constituency delegates register ahead of the primaries to elect a new candidate for the party towards the December 2020 parliamentary election.
They accused them of inserting names of their preferred delegates and leaving out “those of us who toiled and worked hard for the party to come to power.”
