Political sell-out Kwesi Pratt ‘abandons’ CPP to help Mahama - Wontumi claims

The Ashanti Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, has taken some leading members of the interparty resistance against new voters register to the cleaners, describing them as "political sell-outs".

Citing seasoned Journalist, Kwesi Pratt, who is a strong member of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), as the first example, he accused him (Pratt) of having taken leave from his party to join John Mahama’s campaign team.

His assertion is based on the fact that Mr Pratt, who is also the Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, joined the interparty demonstrators to kick against the decision of the Electoral Commission (EC) to compile a new voters’ register for the 2020 general elections, contrary to the alleged decision taken by his party [CPP] to support the EC's decision.

Speaking on Okay FM’s "Ade Akye Abia" Morning Show, Chairman Wontumi, as he is affectionately called indicated that the Kwesi Pratt would have been suspended if he was a member of the ruling party.

“Ask Kwesi Pratt for me, so the interparty demonstration he joined, did he join in the capacity of CPP or he is no longer a member of CPP? So, this is what Uncle Kwesi Pratt is doing to Kwame Nkrumah’s CPP . . . he has now joined John Mahama’s NDC . . . is he on leave to work for John Mahama?” he quizzed.

“If Kwesi Pratt was a member of the NPP, I would have called for his suspension immediately. Your own party’s General Secretary, Kwabena Bomfeh says the stance of CPP is to support the EC to compile new voters’ register and Kwesi Pratt decided to join a demonstration contrary to the position of his party,” he stated.

The outspoken NPP stalwart later turned his firing cylinders on the Chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah for his role in the interparty protest marches.

“As for Bernard Mornah, he has been following John Mahama to collapse his party, PNC; a party which has been in power before. Bernard Mornah behaves as if he is toying with the destiny of the party; he behaves as if he is not serious due to certain utterances and the kind of hat he wears. It is as if he is joking with PNC; he has collapsed the party,” he chastised.
