Politics Voting Progress - Accra

At Ashaiman Presbyterian School polling station in the Ashaiman Constituency, voting started at exactly 0720 hours as a result of the late arrival of election materials.

Mr. Raphael Donya, the Presiding Officer for the station said they were late because the vehicle supposed to convey them to the station did not arrive on time.

"We want you to bear with us for the vehicle did not come on time. We will try our best to finish by 1700 hours", he said. There was law and order at the polling station as at 1125 hours. Out of the 1,117 registered voters, 400 had cast their votes. Some identification problems were encountered, as some voters did not have their names in the voter's register. Others who transferred their votes to the Ashaiman Presbyterian School polling station and could not find their names were made to give the officials their details and were allowed to vote. Sam Fordjour, a voter said he liked the way the voting was going and all he wanted was to keep his preferred candidate in power.
