A former parliamentary aspirant for Weija-Gbawe Constituency has cautioned politicians to be wary of persons around them, particularly persons who make it seem as though they are overly involved in their political career, as they are the very ones who may end up wrecking their political ambitions.

According to her, though emphasis is usually placed on “delegates” and the harm they can possibly do to one’s political career, others very close including campaign managers and constituency chairmen could do more harm than good.

“Some of them say fear delegates, it’s not only delegates, the ones who say they are your campaign manager, they are your constituency chairman, they are your whatever, they are the ones who kill you,” she said.

Speaking at the just ended Youtherfest 2017, a non-denominational youth camp in Koforidua, Miss Obuobia Darko-Opoku recommended politics as a career for everyone who wants to learn about the real character of people because it pushes them to reveal their true selves.

“If you want to know how dangerous, treachery and evil things people very close to you can do, then you need to join politics for it is a good educational force for you,” she explained.

She urged politicians not to depend on their so-called confidants and party activists, work on themselves to rise through the ranks and learn.

She further explained that politics is not only about money but how the individual can involve himself or herself in party activities and contesting for positions at the constituency level.
