Politics is about good governance- Offinsohene

Offinso (Ash), Aug 26, GNA- Nana Wiafe Akenten III, Offinsohene, has stated that politics was not about hurling insults at one another but rather, good governance and how to raise the living standard of the people.

He has therefore advised the Knights and Ladies of Marshall of the Roman Catholic Church and Christians in general to educate the country's politicians to watch their utterances.

The Offinsohene was addressing the 39th annual conference of the Ashanti-Denkyira Regional Council of the Knights and Ladies of Marshal at Offinso at the weekend.

The conference had the theme: "Witnesses Of Christ In The Third Millenium For The Poor, For Life And For The Family".

Nana Wiafe Akenten asked Christians not to sit on the fence and admonished the media to be wary of their reportage.

He asked the media to avoid fanning tribal sentiments, which he said, seemed to be dividing the country on tribal lines. "We should be wary of our utterances and writings", the Offinsohene cautioned Christians.

We should first think of ourselves as Ghanaians before our tribes", he added.

Nana Wiafe Akenten exhorted the Knights and Ladies of Marshal to see to the spiritual growth of the youth so that the church and nation would have a brighter future.

He called for respect for authority to ensure cordial relationship and true reconciliation among Ghanaians.
