The Intra-West African Communications Limited an Accra-based Publishing Company, has conferred on Mr Ebenezer Kofi Portuphy, National Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress with the life time achievers awards.
This was due to his contribution to disaster management in Ghana. It was the eighth edition of the annual awards to Ghanaians who have distinguished themselves in various fields of endeavour.
The award came on the heels of several awards the former National Disaster Management Organisation’s (NADMO) boss has bagged recently, including an honourary doctorate degree, nobles awards and knighting by Pope Francis of the Catholic Church.
Mr Portuphy's achievements in the area of disaster management have been hailed both locally and internationally because of his selfless, dedication and commitment to his profession.

He was the first National Coordinator of NADMO, after his instrumental role in coordinating the drafting of the Disaster Management Act.
Since 1996 he has been very instrumental in disaster management in the country and played a key role in the formation of NADMO
Speaking to the media after the awards ceremony, Mr Portuphy said: "I am grateful to God and the good people of Ghana for how far they have brought me.”
He gave the assurance that he would continue to serve God and people of Ghana with diligence and commitment to make Ghana a better place for all."
