Disqualified parliamentary candidate-hopeful for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Asawase Constituency, Masawuud Mubarick has taken a swipe at party executives over their posturing and pronouncements on the developments after the decision by the functional Executive Committee (FEC) to let incumbent MP, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak to unopposed.

He says it is unfair for anybody to say that those members of the party who are outraged by the decision and are commenting or demonstrating over same have been influenced by money or any other interests.

His comments follow a pronouncement by the Ashanti Regional Communications Officer of the party, Abass Nurudeen that he was the one behind the disturbances by party youth at the regional secretariat yesterday.

Speaking in an interview on Angel FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com, he said his quest to become an MP is not a “do or die” affair, urging his supporters to remain calm as he soberly reflect to take a decision on his political future.

Supporters of the candidate on Thursday lock up the NDC Regional office and set fire into a number of car tyres to indicate their rage, sending a thick billow of smoke into the Kumasi sky from the forecourt of the party office.

The Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the NDC disqualified Masawuud Mubarick from contesting the party’s parliamentary primaries in the Asawase Constituency.
