Mr Henry Kweku Hayfron, the President’s nominee for Mfantseman Municipal Chief Executive was on Thursday confirmed by the Assembly.
Thirty-nine votes as against 12 out of the 52-member Assembly gave him the nod. One vote was rejected.
The election was conducted by the Municipal Electoral Officer, Mr Stephen Bertino Baabeyerir, and the function was graced by Mr Samuel Sarpong, Central Regional Minister and his Deputy, Mrs Queenstar Maame Pokua Sawyer.
In a speech, Mr Sarpong said the main function of an Assembly is to improve the living conditions of the people of the district or the municipality.
He said he was happy that the Mfantseman Municipal Assembly has made the Better Ghana Agenda a reality in the Municipality through the numerous projects the Assembly had executed to improve the standards of the living conditions of the people.
The regional minister said the achievements of the Assembly emanated from the unity and cooperation that existed between the assembly members and the MCE, the presiding member and the coordinator.
He appealed to them to continue the good work they had been doing now that they had confirmed the MCE back to the office.
In an acceptance speech, Mr Hayfron thanked the members for the confidence reposed in him.
He assured them that he would continue to play the role of a team leader of the Assembly, to work to develop the Municipality.
Mrs Mary Oduro, Municipal Magistrate, led Mr Hayfron to swear the oaths of allegiance, office and secrecy.
