Presiding Members of the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) across the country have been directed by the National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG) to pay GHC1000 for the procurement of gowns as uniform for their meeting.

NALAG, in a circular dated October 5 to the Birim North District Assembly in the Eastern Region and sighted by Starrfmonline.com said: “You are respectfully requested to procure gowns to be used by Hon. PMS as uniforms for their Assembly meeting in their respective MMDAS".

“The cost per gown is GHC1000. Mode of payment - each MMDAs is expected to pay the amount in the name of NALAG by cheque before 25th October 2018.”

Speaking to Starr News, the General Secretary of NALAG said the decision was taken with the approval of the Presiding Members.

“I have been a Presiding Member for two consecutive times and when you enter the Assembly, sometimes it is even difficult for you to identify who is the Speaker of the Assembly and the gowns and the accoutrements make the office of the Presiding at sitting very very important and authoritative,” he added.
