Spokesperson for a group that calls itself Social Democratic Forum (SDF) Manan Mustapha has posited that, former President Jerry John Rawlings cannot compare his administration to that of President John Dramani Mahama considering the massive infrastructural development.
According to to him, the performance of President Mahama out ways that of the regime of the former President and founder of the umbrella family.
His comments follow some comments by some chiefs in the Volta Region that President Mahama has threw dust into their eyes over uncompleted projects in the region.
However, Manan Mustapha said the recent comments by the chiefs is only meant to discredit the President.
Mr. Mustapha said the group finds it strange that these recent comments are coming from the Volta Region when under former President Rawlings, there were serious challenges which President Mahama's critics failed to comment on. "Considering the projects that has been done by NDC government so far as President Mahama is concerned as compared to President Rawlings' regime; You cannot compare Rawlings' regime to that of John Mahama's regime; because most of the the project that has been embarked on; Rawlings cannot compare his administration to that of President Mahama's administration considering the roads, schools and the massive infrastructural development by President Mahama."
He added that although President Rawlings did little for the Northern Region, they still stood by him because they believed the ideology of the party and remained quiet hence the Volta chiefs should remain quiet and deist from their ill intention to discredit the President.
Mr. Mustapha was worried that the youth in the NDC and government communicators are quiet over the 'hypocrisy' of the chiefs which is only meant to paint the President back.
He opined that, the group will not sit down for President Mahama to run down because he has achieved a lot for the party.
"President Mahama is not the President of Volta Region but the President of Ghana...Almost 70% of President Mahama's appointments are from the Volta Region...It seems they (chiefs) have failed to appreciate what the President is has doing for them and are out to sabotage the President; but we are not going to sit down and watch this happen."
