Smooth take off of photo exercise in Tema

Tema, Sept. 12, GNA -- Hundreds of people in the Tema Metropolis, who could not complete their voter registration in the earlier exercise because of shortage of photo films, on Friday turned up at various registration centres to do so. The five-day exercise, which begun today Friday September 12 would end on the 16 September, 2008.

Officials at some of the centres in the Metropolis visited by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) were impressed with the peoples' patience and maturity as they wait in queues to be attended to. Mr Michael Mensah, the officer-in-charge of the Adjetey Ansah Memorial Junior High School centre in the Oninku Electoral Area of Tema Manhean, said the centre had successfully taken pictures of over 60 people, while about 70 people waited patiently even when the rains started for their turn.

He gave the assurance that the centre could fully complete the process by the end of the exercise due to its smooth take-off and cooperation from the eligible voters. Mr Mensah, however, noted that the centre experienced some delays in laminating the identity cards due to the limited number of officials at the centre.

The situation at the Twedaase JHS centre was not different.
