Some NDC bigwigs plotted to have me sacked by Mills – Anyidoho

Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Koku Anyidoho Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Koku Anyidoho

Deputy General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho has revealed that some powerful persons in the party, plotted to have him sacked by late President Attah Mills at the time he served as the Director of Communications at the Presidency.

According to him, these detractors of his who leveled all manner of baseless allegations against him used their media to propagate their agenda but failed woefully.

Koku served as the mouthpiece of the Presidency from 2009 till in July 2012 when the late President died while in office. Koku who was a close ally of ex Prez Mills was regarded as a very powerful man who was very protective of the late President.

It was even rumoured that he single handedly determined which state institutions some personalities in the NDC party served during the Mills administration.

Koku, is remembered for his “heads will roll” statement when the flood lights at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi went off for over an hour during Ghana’s opening World Cup qualifier against Lesotho in 2012, a situation that caused huge embarrassment to the country.

He came under huge flak from a section of Ghanaians who said he was arrogating to himself too much power.

But sspeaking to Bola Ray on Starr Chat on Starr FM, Koku Anyidoho stated that some persons in the NDC schemed to ‘bury’ him with Prof Mills in his (Mills) last days in office.

“The hailstorm came from the media and other quarters, let’s say within as well because that was the going moments of President Mills; let me be honest at this time, he was singing his swansong and so it was like let us bury Koku Anydoho with President Mills. I don’t want to break down in tears but I will say a lot of this came from within a small circle of the party then it was orchestrated in the media.

“Like I’ve told you, I’ve been in the media since 1993,when there was only GBC, people don’t know who I know in the media, I know so many people in the media but I don’t make noise about it because it’s not about noise making. When you have your own people saying hit at him…hit at him,… the more you hit at him, President Mills will sack him and then these media people I know will come back to me and say Koku what have you done and soso and so are calling on us to hit at you. Today I look at these accusers of mine and shake my head and I say God forgive them.”
