Defeated aspirant in the NDC parliamentary primary in the Madina constituency, Sidi Abubakar Musah says the elected Parliamentary Aspirant, Francis Xavier Sosu must reshape his political character ahead of the 2020 general elections.
He told Kasapa 102.5 Fm on Monday that Sosu must be guided by his utterances going into a national election since he appeared to be immature in politics following his dirty campaign witnessed in the primaries.
There was a petition challenging the eligibility of former National Youth Organizer of the opposition to contest in the parliamentary primaries in the constituency.
Sidi Abubakar Musah was seen as a front runner in the primaries with watchers expecting a two-horse race between the former leader of the NDC Youth front and popular human rights lawyer Francis Xavier Sosu, but he lost the bid in the weekend polls.
A livid Sidi in an interview on Monday said his actions from the past is haunting him after his negative campaign against him citing him as a foreigner among other accusations.
“That’s why I was saying we should be circumspect when we are running our campaign. Throughout the campaign; you can check on every platform, you can google, I have never uttered a single word that seems to suggest that I’m insulting any of the opponents. But some people excuse me to say when you hear what they say it’s very bad. That’s why we’ve been guiding them in the campaign that be careful what you say; You may emerge the leader and when you emerge the leader, if you’ve said A, B, C, D against me, how can you take it back, if it’s not true? That is why we keep warning please don’t use, don’t use it. Just go ahead with your campaigning and don’t do anything that will suggest that you’re coming to tribalize issues. Don’t say somebody is a foreigner.”
He continued:” Yesterday he says he even drove to my house. In his earlier interviews, he was saying that they won’t allow a foreigner to come; they won’t do this, they won’t do that. But now that you need votes, you find a way to know where my house is.”
Mr Xavier-Sosu won the party’s parliamentary primaries on Saturday, 24 August 2019.
The lawyer polled 661 to beat his closest contender Mr Sidii Abubakar who polled 480 votes.
