The Director of Elections for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Martin Agyei Mensah-Korsah is wondering why President John Dramani Mahama is always livid whenever the name of the Electoral Commission’s Boss, Charlotte Osei is brought up for discussion.
He has urged the President to stop jumping to the defence of the EC Boss at all times and focus on governing the country.
Martin Agyei Mensah made these remarks following President Mahama’s comments that the debate surrounding the creation of the new EC logo is needless.
The President during the quarterly meeting with members of the Council of State, said “Some parties have made it a penchant to continuously attack the Electoral Commission for reasons I can’t understand. This is the time to give the EC peace to do its work.
“I mean how is a logo going to affect the quality of elections in this country? I don’t think it’s a discourse that we should be splitting heads on.
“I think that our Electoral process has inherent safeguards in it that any serious political party can ensure that it polices that election and ensure the integrity of the election,” said the President.
But speaking in an interview with Ekourba Gyasi, host of TOP FM’s morning show on Tuesday, Martin Agyei Mensah Korsah said “am surprised and curious that he is always alarmed whenever the name of Charlotte Osei is mentioned.”
He opined that President Mahama should not have joined this debate surrounding the logo. “He could have told any of his deputy ministers or ministers to give this admonishing.”
He should focus on ruling the country and stop jumping to the defence of the EC always, Martin told host Ekourba Gyasi.
