The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Independent Parliamentary candidate for Suame Constituency Hayford Osei Bempeh has thrown in the towel following talks with party gurus.

The constituency executives and some faceless influential members of the party in the Ashanti region advised him from contesting against the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Suame Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu.

The Businessman made his intention of contesting the Suame Parliamentary seat few weeks after accusing the minority leader of Parliament of doing little to improve the livelihood of Suame constituents.

But Suame constituency chairman Kennedy Marfo in an exclusive interview with Ultimate FM’s Isaac Justice Bediako said, Hayford will in the coming days step down to support Osei Kyei Mensah and Nana Addo to win December elections.

According to Kennedy Marfo, the meeting between the independent parliamentary aspirant and unnamed members of the party ended well.

He believes Hayford can never unseat Osei Kyei Mensah but fear the party’s votes will split, hence the need to stop him for the interest of the party.

Reacting to the development in Suame constituency, Osei Bempeh admitted a meeting organized by the Suame NPP constituency chairman Kennedy Marfo, saying the party’s interest is paramount than any individual’s parochial interest, hence his decision to bow out.
