Suhum DCE appointment confirmed

Suhum, June 28, GNA - The re-nominated District Chief Executive for Suhum/Kraboa/Coaltar District, Mr Michael Kofi Mensah, was on Tuesday confirmed by the Assembly members by a vote of 64 to 65, representing 98.46 per cent.

Endorsed by a highly exuberant assembly that several times drowned the voice of its speaker, Mr Mensah has become the first in a line of DCEs re-nominated by the President for the headship of district assemblies in the Eastern Region.

Mr Yaw Barimah, the Eastern Regional Minister, appealed to the assembly members to do away with sectional interests that often tended to retard the wheel of progress in the districts.

He urged assembly members to do away with bitterness, rancour and petty squabbles since the assemblies were not a forum for settling personal squabbles but rather the platform for charting policies to better the lives of the people.

Pledging to bear true faith and allegiance to the assembly, Mr Mensah took the oath of office and allegiance administered by the District Magistrate, Mr Emmanuel Essandoh. Much aware of the murky political terrain that lies ahead, the DCE sounded a tone of approchement when he thanked the members and assured them of his co-operation.

He promised to operate an open-door policy that would draw on the best human and material resources in the district regardless of the political shade and ethnic mix of the people.
