Sunyani, Dec. 13, GNA- The Sunyani Polytechnic branch of the Tertiary Education Students Confederation (TESCON) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has cautioned delegates to the Party's Congress to exhibit maturity and comportment.
In a press statement made available to the Ghana News Agency and signed by Mr Tweneboah Koduah, President of the TESCON, urged the delegates to use their experience to elect the most potential of the aspirants, who could lead the party to a resounding victory in the 2008 general elections.
The students implored the delegates to make the right choice to sustain the unity in the party and would be youth-oriented and matured "in the chemistry of politics" in the country. "We need a leader who is approachable, youth-oriented and would exhibit a quality sense of judgment and not a leadership whose ideologies would be at variance with the party's", the statement stated. The student body advised members of Parliament, District Chief Executives and Municipal Chief Executives to openly pledge their support for aspirants of their choice without fear of being intimidated. To the losing aspirants the students advised that "there will be only one winner at the end of the congress and it will be incumbent on them to join the winner to celebrate as loyal members of the NPP tradition", the statement added.
The students warned the losers against being resentful but to rather close their ranks and rally behind the winner, "since politics is all about the promotion of the welfare of the people".
