Tema receives electoral materials

Tema, Nov. 19, GNA -- Tema Metropolitan Office of Electoral Commission (EC) has taken delivery of some electoral materials in preparation towards Presidential and Parliamentary elections on December 7.

The items included indelible ink, thumbprint pad, stamp pad, validating stamps and additional ballot boxes.

Mr Michael Boadu, Tema Metropolitan Electoral Officer told Ghana News Agency on Tuesday that more materials would be received from EC's Head Office by the end of the week.

He explained that early delivery of electoral materials to the metropolitan, municipal and district offices of EC would help prevent shortage of materials on Election Day.

Mr Boadu said his outfit would organize a training session for 2,115 polling assistants who would be on duty at the 423 polling stations in the metropolis.

He said they would be trained on their duties on the polling day, technical issues about election, responsibility of security personnel, party agents and election observers at polling stations. Constituencies in the metropolis are Tema West, Tema East, Adenta, Ashaiman and Kpone-Katamanso.
