New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko has rubbished the Agyapadie document, a supposed master plan of the Akyem faction within the NPP to keep hold of the party.

Speaking in an interview on Channel One TV’s 'Face to Face', on August 13, 2024, Gabby said that the book should not be taken seriously because it is fiction.

He indicated that any person who believes the Agyapadie document probably has psychological issues and must seek medical assistance.

“I’ll repeat what I put on social media the other day. If any person, any intelligent person or a person who considers him or herself intelligent believes that a family that has one of their leaders been offered the opportunity to lead the country will sit down and conspire evil against the nation and put the picture of the overlord or the head of that family on that document, you must have your head examined. If you believe that, you must have your head examined,” he said.

The NPP leading member, who is a cousin of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, also laughed at suggestions that things in the book are already happening.

“And then when I hear people, and I don’t want to mention names, but you see, when I hear people try to say that things in the book are happening it’s a very imbecilic statement to even hear because it comes from a non-analytical appreciation of what is in that fiction.”

About the Agyapadie document:

The document, which was forwarded to the Okyenhene Ofori Panin, contained plans of the Akyem faction to maintain control of the NPP.

In its ‘Table of Contents,’ the book breaks down the various aspects of Ghanaian life that the cabal, dubbed the ‘Akyem Mafia,’ intended to control, making the rest of the country compliant to the dictates of the selected Akyem.

From chieftaincy to the economy, politics, and all aspects of Ghanaian society, the book outlines a detailed plan by the supposed Akyems to establish total dominance and ensure that the running of the country is done at their beck and call.

The book predicts key events in the country, including changes in leadership at the Social Security and National Insurance Trust, the collapse of indigenous Ghanaian banks and financial institutions, and the deliberate and conscious positioning of the Okyenhene as the most powerful chieftaincy institution in the country, among others.

In the religious sphere, certain powerful and popular men of God who were seen as opponents of the regime were going to be targeted and destroyed, while those believed to be in favour of the government were going to be supported.

Meanwhile, the Stool Secretary of the Ofori Panin Stool and Secretary to the Okyenhene, Daniel Marfo Ofori-Atta, has filed a lawsuit against Hopeson Adorye and Media General.

The lawsuit alleges defamation following remarks made by Hopeson Adorye on a platform operated by Media General, which includes Onua TV and Onua FM.

Ofori-Atta, who oversees all correspondence and public affairs for the Okyenhene and the Akyem Abuakwa State Council, is demanding GH¢10 million in damages, an apology, and a perpetual injunction against further defamatory statements.

The plaintiff asserts that the statements made on the media platform were damaging to his reputation and is seeking a formal retraction and compensation for the harm caused.
