The General Secretary of the main opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah says President Akufo-Addo’s bad name is not engineered by his opponents insisting he’d by his own deeds earned his unpopularity in the 18 month period he’s stayed in power.
President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said he is aware of attempts by his opponents to discredit his fight against corruption by calling him corrupt just to tarnish his image.
But said he remains resolute in the fight against corruption, determined to uphold the highest form of integrity that comes with his office and no amount of name calling will deter him.
Citing the age-old proverb while addressing a conference of Internal Auditors this week, the President said “I am aware that you give a dog a bad name in order to hang it, but this dog will not be hanged.”
However, the General Scribe of the main opposition NDC, popularly called General Mosquito in a rebuttal on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM has replied the President saying the dog is only being given a deserving name; a name that dog has earned is what is being given to it.”
According to Mr Asiedu Nketiah there is no point in the defense being put up by the President after whitewashing his appointees and absolving them of any wrongdoing vis a vis the barrage of scandals recorded in his administration.
“He highly deserves the bad name because he did not crack the whip when his appointees were involved in those corrupt acts. He’s been shielding his appointees and keeps on saying that his appointees are clean, while corruption abounds under his watch. If there is a problem now, the buck stops with him; and so he should bear the brunt of his corrupt officials.
“I hear him saying that he was misled in the New AMERI deal when he signed the Executive approval for it. If you realised that you were deceived by your own people what stops you from removing them from office? If you don’t want that bad name then begin to name and shame.”
