A presidential hopeful and leader of the All Progressive Party, Dr Hassan Ayariga, has bemoaned the poor leadership displayed by both NDC and NPP governments entrusted with the mandate to serve.
Speaking on GhanaWeb TV’s Election Desk with Etsey Atisu, Dr Ayariga said that the leaders have failed the citizens and left them dejected, despite being entrusted with the power to implement good policies to improve economic conditions.
“The leaders who have ruled this country have failed us and every good thing is expensive. There’s nothing that comes out and it's cheap and you think that it's good.”
Dr Ayariga emphasised that the country’s youth have no future due to the lack of job opportunities following years of education.
“You talk about jobs and the youth of this country don’t have jobs, they come out of schools and there are no jobs. So there is no future for any young man living in Ghana under the two leaderships,” he stated.
He added that the country remains in a deplorable state despite the democratic changes in government every 8 years for the last 32 years.
He stated that the poor living conditions of the ordinary Ghanaian and the constant increase in the prices of goods are proof of the poor governance currently on display.
“32 years down the lane, we have seen parties change leadership 16 years (8 years) in our fourth republic and you can tell that nothing good is coming out of their leadership. Look at the roads in Accra, it's terrible and that is the capital city of Ghana.
“Look at the living conditions of the people in Accra, go to Circle and see how people are sleeping under the bridges, they can’t get even proper water to bath. In Accra here, there is shortage of water every day. Prices of goods and services in the market outrageously increases almost every day,” he said.
December 2024, will be Dr Hassan Ayariga’s third time contesting the presidential elections if he makes it through the Electoral Commission’s vetting process.
